Exploring the theory and practice of Wayfaring

This twitter discussion was sparked by the following quote:
“You become what you think about.”
- Earl Nightingale

Grace: You become what you think about.. but do we choose our thoughts, or are they our destiny?
Eidyn: That is indeed the crux: that we can choose our thoughts & determine our destiny. Destiny is chosen, but simple fate just happens to us through circumstance.
Grace: I’ve always believed in self determination, but lately, I feel our strings are being pulled by “The Puppeteer”. Don’t you think our destinies are predetermined? preordained?
Eidyn: I would say that we choose our trajectories in advance, but the exact path is up to us. Every soul is a reflection of the divine. Thus we are endowed with the power of determination.
Since we all have this power, the world forms from this interaction as a medium for Intention. The world is a common ground of agreement. If we change our agreements, we change what is possible.
Also, there are certain forces that seek to derail our self-determination. These forces are not “evil” though.
Grace: I believe we are given trajectories in advance, but I’m not sure whether we choose them or are relegated to play our role.
Eidyn: Yeah, even if we are relegated to roles, there is some overarching self-determination in the largest sense.
Grace: I like to think we have the power of determination, especially when it comes to good vs bad.
These “forces”, if they do exist, how might one overcome/overpower them…usually I use juniper & sage for protection/cleansing.
Eidyn: Well..It is key to consider thoughts as emanating from outside & interpreted from within: to question the contents of the mind.
Natural aids such as incense, herbs, oils, incantations, ritual, minerals, yoga, laughter etc. are excellent as well.
Grace: I guess one could say that the overarching determination would be the “G-d” in us, seeking to go home.
Eidyn: Yeah, the Vedic philosopher would say that it is Brahma seeking to awaken from sleep and fascination in Maya’s web.

Author’s Note:
This material makes use of terminology that is introduced in The Wayfarer’s Tale. These terms are explained and described there in detail. If you are not familiar with these terms, refer to The Wayfarer’s Tale or to The Wayfarer’s Glossary.

Genes, Memes & Themes
All interactions involving the three types of awareness can be summed up in three words: genes, memes and themes.
Genes are units of dextral manifestation, memes are units of sinistral manifestation and themes are units of tifential manifestation.
Although these terms are in no way precise or all-encompassing, they do offer a convenient shorthand for contemplating the three types of awareness.

Genes
Genes are an expression of numina, encoding numinic information for transmission between compatible dextral and tifential entities. This is a numinic representation of an underlying eionic process.
Genes constantly change their forms and expressions. The “library” of forms and expressions that genes may take exists eionically and is not destroyed by elimination of the particular expressions of these forms. Thusly, extinction of a species in no way means that this species may not reappear.
Memes
Memes encode sinistral information via osculation, transmitting them between compatible sinistral and tifential entities (including nascent tifentials, like human beings). These memes are thereafter expressed in the numinic forms native to these beings (as writing, dance forms, art etc). The signets of sinistral beings are a example of persistent memes.
Themes
Themes are a semantic expression of the underlying Intentions of Eios. This is primarily an eionic process that produces numina via the individual expressions of these themes.
Themes can involve any or all of the types of awareness.
Very strong or recurrent themes are known as myths. Strongly manifested individual expressions of a myth are called legends.
Context & the Phenomenon of History
Genes, memes and themes are perceived uniquely by beings of each type of awareness.
As mentioned in The Wayfarer’s Tale, sinistral beings will be largely unaware of the numinic component of these phenomena. Dextral beings will be largely unaware of the underlying eionic component, while tifential beings will be fully aware of both aspects of these phenomena.
Within the context of humankind, themes are generally enacted by the interaction of genes and memes. In this same context, the interaction and conflict between the dextral genes and the sinistral memes is called history.
The common conception of history (relative history) is a sinistral interpretation of the occurrence of genes, memes and themes via the medium of the individual entities recording these events.

In The Wayfarer’s Tale, it was explained that Eios is the manifest Source, the Intentional essence pervading all of manifestation.
It is important to understand this concept intellectually, but how can one describe the sublime, fantastic and incredible experience of Eios? How can one describe the terrifying, precipitous, dizzying experience of union with that which connects all of existence?
With wonder and terror perfectly balanced, one walks a tightrope through the hall of the infinite. There are many gateways to this hall. Serendipitous occurrence, near-death experience, shamanic ecstasy, yogic exertion, music, diligent meditation, logical exploration, closeness to nature, pure intuition, empathic love and sexual union being among them.

With practice in the arts of Wayfaring, the Wayfarer becomes transparent, balancing the Sidia within, being humble, noble, sober and inspired, fully aware of responsibility and consequence, the individual and the universal not eliminated, the wonder and terror not abated, but instead fully fused together in a profound experience of The Real.
This state of emergence, like a fish jumping through the air and seeing that shining world for the first time. This “enlightenment”, like a light piercing the world, filling and fulfilling it, leaving all the same, and yet changed forever.
The dancing numina, ant-track teardrops of pure energetic potential, no longer veiled or obscured by any cumbersome interpretation, the direct perception of the ubiquitous Substance.

The eions, such incredibly strong Intention, sensed with the soul as much as perceived; each one containing its own Infinity, sensed as a wellspring of direct knowledge and Intention.
The cosmos revealed, filled with weighty meaning and purpose, yet light as a feather, as easy as laughter with friends, so profound and so irrelevant, a canvas awaiting the painter’s stroke.
Death stops by for a friendly chat, and you greet it with the secret handshake only Eios can provide.
It is only our own learned resistance to the manifest Source called Eios that prevents our emergence.
The art of Wayfaring is to solve our own puzzle, to unwrap layers of inner resistance like birthday presents, and finally to discard the irrelevant in order to make space for The Real.
