Exploring the theory and practice of Wayfaring

This twitter discussion was sparked by the following quote:
“You become what you think about.”
- Earl Nightingale

Grace: You become what you think about.. but do we choose our thoughts, or are they our destiny?
Eidyn: That is indeed the crux: that we can choose our thoughts & determine our destiny. Destiny is chosen, but simple fate just happens to us through circumstance.
Grace: I’ve always believed in self determination, but lately, I feel our strings are being pulled by “The Puppeteer”. Don’t you think our destinies are predetermined? preordained?
Eidyn: I would say that we choose our trajectories in advance, but the exact path is up to us. Every soul is a reflection of the divine. Thus we are endowed with the power of determination.
Since we all have this power, the world forms from this interaction as a medium for Intention. The world is a common ground of agreement. If we change our agreements, we change what is possible.
Also, there are certain forces that seek to derail our self-determination. These forces are not “evil” though.
Grace: I believe we are given trajectories in advance, but I’m not sure whether we choose them or are relegated to play our role.
Eidyn: Yeah, even if we are relegated to roles, there is some overarching self-determination in the largest sense.
Grace: I like to think we have the power of determination, especially when it comes to good vs bad.
These “forces”, if they do exist, how might one overcome/overpower them…usually I use juniper & sage for protection/cleansing.
Eidyn: Well..It is key to consider thoughts as emanating from outside & interpreted from within: to question the contents of the mind.
Natural aids such as incense, herbs, oils, incantations, ritual, minerals, yoga, laughter etc. are excellent as well.
Grace: I guess one could say that the overarching determination would be the “G-d” in us, seeking to go home.
Eidyn: Yeah, the Vedic philosopher would say that it is Brahma seeking to awaken from sleep and fascination in Maya’s web.
